Dear Father,
Easter is often a time spent with family. I pray to you today for families. That you may draw them closer together. That you may heal wounds of hard times or hard words. That you may give all family members a greater appreciation of each other. Let them see the value of maintaining a good relationship. Let them find joy in helping each other, listening to each other and knowing they love each other. Families are a gift you give us Lord. Let us be truly thankful and never reject or neglect them.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Dear Lord,
I recently read about a World Council of Churches assembly where religious leaders representing Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, and Buddhist faiths poured water into a common vessel to signify unity, the importance of water in religious traditions, and a shared commitment to water justice. Today is World Water Day. Help me to pay attention to the role water plays in my life, from the spiritual roots of my baptism, to the food sources for which water is essential, and the water that I drink. I am blessed to live in a community where water is clean and readily available. Be with those people in places around the world where access to a healthy water supply is more difficult, and show me ways to help support a vital water system.
Help me be a good steward of this precious gift of water.

Holy God of Winter’s Dark and Spring’s Light,
We thank You for the “dark” gift of this Lenten season, for we know that just as a seed must have darkness to grow, so, too, the seeds of our faith often need a time of reflection to germinate. Gather us into this darkness where our seeds have been planted in the secret places of our souls, where we will find that Heaven’s Love rests in the dark rich earth of our being as it once rested in the darkened embrace of a tomb. Teach us to trust what we cannot see, to hope for that which we feel is impossible… Teach us patience and the holiness of waiting as we enter into the solitude of Lent, for without the dark we cannot see the light. You knew us in our mother’s dim womb as we waited for birth. You know us still as we rest in the darkness of this winter season trusting Your unseen blessings while we are being renewed and replenished. We ask that You be near us during our Lenten contemplations, and quiet the shadows of the moment as we wait for the Sacred Light to emerge from that empty Springtime tomb.

Creator God,
In your infinite wisdom, you created the cycle of life for all creation. We see the bulb laying dormant in the cold and dark of winter only to grow and bloom beautifully with the warmth of the spring. In its dormancy, the bulb gathers strength and prepares for the growth that will come. Help us, like the bulb, to use the cold, dark dormant time of Lent to prepare ourselves. Help us remember to use this Lenten journey to strengthen and prepare our hearts and spirits so that we may bloom with the warmth of your grace when Easter comes. May we honor your creation by growing to reflect your glory as we celebrate the coming of the hope and light of the resurrection.

Dear Lord,
Every day seems to speed by. I pray that in the busyness of the hours, days, and weeks that I will be aware and present with the people around me. So many people every day. People who may need a smile, a listening ear, a hand on their shoulder, a meal to eat.
Lord, in this rush to accomplish all my goals at work, then rush to get home…to clean, to exercise, to do the everyday tasks, I pray that I remember to show your love on Earth. I am still learning to be the LIGHT, learning to share your light and your love.
I’m finding more ways to connect with you daily. Mini conversations throughout the day, K-Love on my radio, and readings for my small group class. These change my perspective, they keep my mind balanced, they keep me connected to your love, wisdom, and grace. When I mess up, I’m not so hard on myself. I learn. I learn to forgive myself, and I draw closer to you.
Lord, please help those who are struggling with accepting themselves, to know that Your Grace and Love are there. They don’t need to earn it, it is a gift and they are worthy of it.
Pain and hardship is prevalent. One only needs to be still and look around to see the hurt and struggles do not hold prejudices or have preferences in people. We all have a story and at some point in our lives we feel deep, and seemingly unbearable pain. In these cases I pray that we find strength in You Lord, in our friendships, family, or the kindness of a stranger. Solace and peace can appear in moments spent alone. However, being alone can be scary. We can feel lost and trapped in darkness. I pray at that moment that no one feels alone. Lord, let there be LIGHT. Amen.
